The Guild

There’s a show I started watching over the summer. The show is called the Guild. It  is a comedy web series about six characters that play The Game together. The Game is a massively multiplayer online role-playing (MMORPG). For those of you not familiar with this genre of game, it is like the game, World of Warcraft. If you would like to know more about the game World of Warcraft, here is a link. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Warcraft)

The characters from the web series goes through behavioral issues by playing The Game.  I will not try my best not to mention any spoilers during this post when I talk about the character. All six of the characters are part of the group called the Knights of Good. The characters that make up the group are Codex, Zaboo, Vork , Bladezz, Clara, and Tinkerballa(Tink).  These are just their names while playing The Game with the exception of Clara that uses her real name.

The some members of the Knights of Good use the game to try and escape from their actual lives or believe it be part of it in season one. Codex is more focus on The Game, that she spends most of her time playing it. This leaves no room in her schedule to interact with people outside of the computer screen. Zaboo thinks he is in love with one of the characters from his group. He mistakes kindness for love and it does not end so great for him. Vork is the leader of the Knights of Good. He only believes in rules leaving no room for improvements. He lives by himself in isolation from the outside world. A trait she shares with Codex.  Bladezz is a high school student that is rude to pretty much everyone except females. Clara stays at home with her children. She does not really take care of them because she is too busy online playing with her group members.  Tink has a cold person and clever personality. She uses it to cover up her weakness.

These characters change over time thanks to Codex’s self-determination. Codex had an idea that meeting her group members in real life.  All of them did not live too far from each other.  The group’s first non-virtual encounter did not work out the first time. Overtime, the group came together to interact with one another more. This helped with some of their issues but not all of them.

I think The Guild is a great web series. Their 6th season just started this week. You can watch the first episode of 6th season and the pervious one on YouTube.  I recommend that you check out the show if you can or if you’re interested.  Here is the link to the Guild. http://www.youtube.com/user/watchtheguild
